The car that both men and women are likely to find 'most attractive' is a black BMW, according to new research.

Despite the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Golf and Nissan Qashqai being named the best-selling cars of 2017 they are not deemed the most attractive.

Leasing Options surveyed 1,000 motorists to choose which car brands and features they found most attractive, and the entirety were premium and luxury brands.

The top 10 most attractive cars rated by Brits are:

  • BMW (9%)
  • Mercedes (8%)
  • Aston Martin (7%)
  • Ferrari (7%)
  • Audi (7%)
  • Porsche (6%)
  • Bentley (5%)
  • Jaguar (5%)
  • Rolls Royce (5%)
  • Maserati (5%)

As well as the brand, colours also have an impact on which cars are considered attractive.

The research found that almost a fifth (19%) of people in the UK found black cars the most attractive, followed by red (9%) and white (4%).

Brands that didn’t grab people's attention were Kia, Ford and Nissan - despite their popularity in the UK.

Leasing Options’ brand manager Mike Thompson said: “Overall, the study shows that we all seem to be attracted to the finer things in life with the top 10 cars being luxury vehicles like Bentley and Rolls Royce.”
