Jaguar reveals XE and XF facelift with new mild-hybrid engine

Jaguar XE and XF 2021 facelift

Jaguar has updated the XE and XF with a revised engine line-up, updated styling and a new infotainment systems.

Available to order now, the new XE and XF are more efficient and better equipped than their predecessors.

New Jaguar XE

Priced from £29,475 (OTR), the new XE is offered with a choice of three powertrains and a simplified trim structure.

Styling changes are minimal, following the XE’s last facelift in 2019.

The D200 diesel is the most efficient. Featuring mild-hybrid technology, it emits from 128g/km of CO2 and can return up to 58mpg.

Powered by a 204PS Ingenium four-cylinder, the compact executive can sprint from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds.

There are two petrol models: the P250 and the P300. They emit from 179g/km and 190g/km respectively, while latter has all-wheel-drive.

The XE model range starts with the S variant, which comes with leather upholstery, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, parking sensors, electric folding door mirrors, a 3D camera and Jaguar’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen.

From there, the rest of the range is offered in sportier R-Sport guise only, with S, SE and HSE grades. There is also an R-Dynamic Black model, with larger wheels, larger brakes and gloss black exterior trim.

The SE adds keyless entry and a digital instrument cluster, while HSE gains a second touchscreen in place of the climate controls and a Meridian sound system.

New Jaguar XF

A bolder round of updates for the XF sees the car gain a new interior and revised bumpers alongside new powertrains.

The XF’s popular 3.0-litre V6 diesel is no longer offered and all models now use four-cylinder engines.

As with the XE, the XF is most efficient when powered by the D200 mild-hybrid diesel. It emits from 131g/km in the saloon and 144g/km when fitted to the Sportbrake.

A P250 petrol comes with rear-wheel-drive, while the P300 has all wheel drive. The diesel can be specified with either. All use an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The new XF range is priced from £32,585 and the trim structure has been similarly revised to the XE’s, starting with S then moving to R-Dynamic S, SE and HSE. An SE grade is additionally offered on the Sportbrake.

All models feature the new 11.4-inch centrally mounted touchscreen, which operates using the new JLR Pivi Pro setup.

The new XF also benefits from Clear Exit Monitor, which alerts both front and rear occupants to the presence of an approaching car or cyclist when exiting the vehicle.

Active Road Noise Cancellation technology constantly monitors vibrations from the road surface and calculates the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by the occupants. This means quieter noise levels within the cabin for improved refinement.
