6 Suzuki Swace hybrid estate

Suzuki has updated its Swace hybrid estate, with a new powertrain, enhanced technology and revised specification.

The Swace is based on the Toyota Corolla Hybrid estate platform and is the second vehicle to be supplied to Suzuki by the manufacturer under a collaborative business agreement. The other is the Across SUV, which is based on the Rav4.

The new Swace is priced from £28,999, undercutting the Toyota by £1,200.

Key to the update is a revised hybrid powertrain. Updates, which also apply to the Corolla, see power output boosted to 140PS, from 122PS, and official combined fuel consumption of 62.7mpg. CO2 emissions are measured at 102g/km.

The power boost cuts the Swace's 0-62mph acceleration time from 11.1 seconds to 9.4 seconds.

For 2023, standard specification is higher than before. The new Motion grade includes Emergency Driving Stop system, Dynamic Radar Cruise contro, LED rear lamps, Dual Zone automatic air conditioning, and eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, rear parking camera and a new digital instrument cluster.

The new Ultra grade (£30,799) adds Bi-LED projector headlights, Safe Exit Assist, Smart Door locking, Front and Rear Park distance sensors, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross traffic Alert, interior ambient lighting, and centre console tray with wireless charger.

Suzuki is expecting to sell 2,000 units in the UK this year.

The Swace’s boot offers a luggage capacity of 596 litres, which increases to 1,606 if the rear seats are folded down.
