Land Rover has updated its Range Rover Velar model for the 2024 model year, introducing a refreshed look and a larger battery for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Visual changes include a new grille and redesigned headlights, alongside tweaks to the rear bumper to hide the exhaust tailpipes.

A bigger overhaul has taken place inside, where JLR's latest Pivi Pro infotainment system has been installed. It's controlled via a new floating touchscreen and, for the first time, integrates the climate controls. As a result, the Velar's interior becomes more minimalist and does away with the majority of physical switchgear.

The Velar's engine line-up remains largely unchanged, with four- and six-cylinder diesel options available as well as a fleet-friendly PHEV. Alongside changes recently applied to the Jaguar F-Pace, the Velar PHEV has been given a larger battery to boost its range and efficiency.

The new 19.2kWh battery provides the Velar P400e with a WLTP range of 40 miles, placing it in the 8% benefit-in-kind tax band. The previous model managed 33 miles.

Drivers can also make use of 50kW rapid charging, which can top-up the battery in around half an hour.

Prices for the updated Velar range start from £54,045 for the entry-level D200 S, while the Velar P400e is available from £64,745. The new model is available to order now.
