Mercedes-Benz Vans has launched a complimentary preventative maintenance dashboard for its midsize and large commercial vehicles to help fleets reduce vehicle downtime.
The manufacturer says the Van Uptime Monitor Digital Extra solution provides organisations with full transparency about the condition of their vehicle to help plan any workshop visits.
This will help avoid unplanned downtime and, in the event of a short-term problem, to get it resolved immediately.
Sagree Sardien, head of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Vans, said: “The central performance promise to our commercial customers is the maximisation of the uptime of their vehicles.
“With the Van Uptime Monitor Digital Extra, we take this one step further through offering an outstanding and tailor-made premium feature to our customers as a complimentary tool that focuses on operational capability through the technical vehicle status and real-time diagnosis functionality.”
Van Uptime Monitor connects customers’ vehicles with their vehicle management company and Mercedes-Benz workshops.
If necessary, the system uses real-time notifications in three urgency levels to suggest specific recommendations for action:
Vehicle information. No immediate need for action, with customers receiving simple tips on maintenance which can easily be carried out by the vehicle operator to save time.
Repair recommendation. Customers receive information about foreseeable repairs so they can make an appointment with the workshop to have them addressed.
Urgent warning. In the event of an imminent stranding, customers receive a direct call from the Mercedes-Benz customer assistance centre and can plan a workshop visit.
