Stellantis has unveiled its new electric van line-up under the Pro One banner as part of its strategic offensive for its commercial vehicles business.

Changes to the electric vans from Citroën, Fiat Professional, Peugeot and Vauxhall/Opel brands, include a boost in range and technology updates.

The manufacturer’s small electric van – sold as the Citroen e-Berlingo, Fiat E-Doblo, Vauxhall/Opel Combo Electric and Peugeot e-Partner – now boasts a range of 205 miles between charges, 30 more miles than previously offered.

Inside, there is a larger 10-inch infotainment display, as well as new driver-assistance systems including level-two autonomous driving capabilities and a 360-degree camera view.

In terms of its medium electric van line-up, there is also an increase in range for the Citroen e-Dispatch, Fiat E-Scudo, Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro Electric and Peugeot e-Expert.

In the new mid-size zero-emission vans, battery packs offer 50 or 75 kilowatt-hours (kWh) and up to 350km (224 miles) of range, while also receiving the same interior upgrades as the small vans.

Stellantis’s large electric line-up, which includes the Citroen e-Relay, Fiat E-Ducato, Vauxhall/Opel Movano Electric and Peugeot e-Boxer – receives a larger 110kWh battery, delivering a range of 420km (261 miles).

Furthermore, it says that fast charging at 150kW will take the large van’s battery from 0 to 80% in less than one hour.

They also receive receive the same interior upgrades as the small and medium vans.

Stellantis says that the upgrades will not compromise the vans capabilities, such as carrying capacities.

A second generation of hydrogen powered mid-size vans will also launch in the middle of next year, with a range of up to 400km (249 miles) of range.

Furthermore, hydrogen fuel-cell propulsion will be expanded to its large vans in 2024, with a range up to 500km (311 miles) and a refill time of five minutes.

Xavier Peugeot, senior vice president for the Stellantis commercial vehicles business unit, said: “This second generation of zero-emission vans, in line with customer expectations and offering increased BEV autonomy, additional fuel-cell offer, 18 ADAS, full connectivity, and innovations such as ‘electric Power Take Off’, will reinforce even further our current leadership in BEV vans and in all van segments."

Additional technologies included in the new van line-up will include regenerative braking, activated via steering wheel paddles, taking into account vehicle weight and road dynamics to maximise energy recovery.

A heat pump in its electric compact vans, meanwhile, will optimise energy usage in cold and winter conditions to maximise vehicle range.

For fleets, there is also the ability to connect vehicles to fleet management systems to drive efficiencies and improve safety.

In compact vans, a new smartphone station connects to a dedicated app enabling the mobile phone to become a control panel for the vehicle, including interaction with steering wheel buttons.

In large vans, Level 2 assisted driving will be available via the combination of Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go function, Lane Centering and Traffic Jam Assist.

In addition, a new generation of the internal combustion engine mates with an 8-speed automatic transmission for improved range and capability.

Finally, all-new commercial vans are equipped with full LED headlights.

“The essence of our customer-centric renewal of our entire van lineup is no compromise – in range, capability, safety and connectivity,” concluded Luca Marengo, global head of product – serial life for the Stellantis commercial vehicles business unit.
