Venson has teamed up with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to deliver best practice and qualifications for fleet managers with the Certificate of Excellence.

The seminars will cover a range of topics including vehicle maintenance systems, administration, driver licensing and speed limits – alongside information on securing loads, towing equipment and driver behaviour.

Individuals attend a half-day workshop and take a short exam leading to the FTA Certificate of Excellence which is valid for three.

Venson Automotive Solutions’ marketing director Alison Bell said: “With the success of many businesses reliant upon keeping their drivers on the move, having a van taken off the road due it being damaged as a result of overloading could cost dear, not to mention facing a fine and the loss of reputation.

“This is just one of the issues fleet managers face on a day to day basis. We are therefore supporting commercial vehicle operators by providing a course designed for individuals who manage or supervise a van fleet and will discuss best practice and compliance issues across a range of topics.”

Freight Transport Association’s head of vans Mark Cartwright said: “Any organisation operating vehicles as part of its business activity has a responsibility to consider the safety of drivers and the public.

“The FTA Van Excellence Scheme and our courses are designed to empower van operators with the knowledge they need to demonstrate best practice.

"The Venson team is a good example of quality professionals focused on raising standards and helping their clients to operate safely, legally and efficiently.”

Seminars are being held throughout 2018, with the following events taking place in the first half of the year:

  • March 15 – York
  • April 25 – Birmingham
  • May 8 – Bristol
  • May 18 – Manchester
