The Van Excellence scheme has partnered with transport insurance specialists and commercial insurance brokers McCarron Coates to launch an exclusive new insurance product for van drivers committed to safe, efficient and compliant driving.

In addition to a competitive premium, low claims rebate, and access to risk management and telematics apps, policyholders can choose between funding towards Van Excellence membership (year one), a Van Excellence audit, half a day of training, or a complimentary year’s subscription to the Guide to Van Excellence.

The added-value of the policy reflects specialist insurer’s QBE appreciation of the risk management benefits of the Van Excellence scheme, for which it has especially created this exclusive policy for McCarron Coates, says Van Excellence.

“The Van Excellence team is committed to promoting the safe, compliant and efficient operations of vans,” explained Barrie Wilson, regional manager of Van Excellence. “That’s why we partnered with McCarron Coates to launch a bespoke insurance product, designed to assist operators in their journeys to create the safest and most efficient fleets possible, and ultimately, achieve Van Excellence Operator Certification.”

The Van Excellence Operator Certification Scheme is centred around the Van Excellence Code, a minimum best practice standard, and provides operators with the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to safer, more efficient and sustainable van fleets.

Ian McCarron, director of McCarron Coates, said: “This policy has been designed and written specifically for fleet managers and SMEs who recognise the need to instil best practice within the drivers who act as ambassadors for their brand on the road.

“It tailors its premiums and cover to a scenario in which a business is striving to achieve the Van Excellence standard and, therefore, managing its risk as a consequence of that.

“We are excited to bring this bespoke option to Van Excellence members and to assist them with their onward journey as safe and compliant drivers.”

Administered by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), Van Excellence was created in 2010 to promote the safe operation of vans, represent the interests of the sector, and celebrate operators demonstrating excellent standards. Central to the scheme is the Van Excellence Code, a set of minimum best practice standards all van operators should aspire to achieve, covering safety, efficiency and sustainability.
