Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London North in Enfield has install new electric vehicle technology to ensure the constant availability of power to charge trucks.
The company has implemented Dynamic Load Management (DLM) technology from Evolt Charging, part of Swarco Smart Charging, which is being used in conjunction with a battery energy storage solution from Connected Energy.
This ensures sufficient power is always available to charge trucks through new high-power charging (HPC) units as well as the AC and DC charging points installed.
The DLM solution not only helps dealerships to help optimise the distribution of energy between the Evolt EV chargers.
In conjunction with Connected Energy’s battery storage solution, it also enables Volvo to install additional charging units on site without the need to secure additional energy capacity.
The DLM system recognises unused capacity at one charger and distributes it to another, allowing other trucks to charge at an optimal rate.
Justin Meyer, managing director of Swarco Smart Charging, said: “For Volvo Trucks, this combination of technologies is a genuine game-changer in accelerating the introduction of the next generation of trucks, unencumbered by any challenges of grid capacity.”
The launch of the new solution at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London North follows the successful launch of a similar solution, including DLM and battery energy storage, installed at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North and Scotland in Carlisle last year.
