The purpose of our clients Area Transport Manager is to support the area Depot General Managers (DGM’s) ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of the transport side of Depot operations. The area that you will be responsible for, is our clients East region, so you will be responsible for the Bradford, Sheffield, Coventry, Newmarket.
About the Role:As our clients Area Transport Manager, you will report in to the Area Manager and work closely with our clients Head of Fleet, Area Compliance Manager and DGM’s, where you will improve driver standards, values and behaviours throrough engagement with your drivers.
You will analyse and evaluate Management and Business Information to properly resource the Peak period whilst reducing empty runs and unused Driver hours. You will be an advocate for improved and efficient ways of working to maximize the value of our fleet in your area. By working closely with Central Planning and the Operation you will drive our efficiencies and cost savings by effective route planning and rostering.
The client has a range of vehicles across the Depots that may include Cat C+E, Cat C, 3.5 tonne, potentially electric vehicles and a combination the clients own employed Drivers, Agency Drivers and Ltd Drivers for you to work with and motivate.
Experience/Qualifications:
To be Financially astute in order to drive cost saving efficiencies and initiatives
Ability to route plan and produce route optimisation.
Experience of working in a multi -site agile role
PC literate in programmes such as Microsoft Office.
Ability to analyse and make recommendations from Management Information.
CPC License – Desirable although if not held already, would be supported to achieve in role.
Previous experience in a Traffic office environment.
Experience in managing teams of people at 1st line manager or above
Systems knowledge & experience of working with telematics transport management systems and Tachograph analysis (Isotrak/Ortec/Tachomaster)
Full clean driving licence as this role is an agile one and you will be required to drive between sites
Responsibilities:
Knowing KPIs and target measures is essential as this role will be responsible in evidencing and delivering the cost savings the Head of Depots sets the Depot.
To use key reports and MI to report on weekly and monthly upon, and drive out cost of and increase efficiencies within the fleet by:
Working with Planning, reviewing and optimizing routes and delivering continuous improvement on route planning efficiency.
Be able to identify and execute cost saving opportunities at Depot level.
Understand, interpret and deliver the proportion of the depot network cost saving target
Engaging with onsite teams to show an Improvement in driving styles across the fleet team
Work with the ACM and key depot personnel to measure and Control the reduction of vehicle damage
Measure and control Accident reductions.
Manage and Control Driver Overtime.
Being an expert on, and training others on the use of Lytx, Isotrak and Driver assessor tools to influence tight financial control so they can influence daily in their depot
