We're looking for an Assistant Transport Manager that supports our visions and values, provides leadership, direction and provides the technical 'go to' specialisms to support our valued employees.
Reporting to the Transport Manager (TM) within your region, you'll deliver a high-quality, cost-effective transportation service which consistently achieves within company SLAs, and balances the needs of colleagues in operations, the commercial teams and the overall network.
Ensuring our vehicles and staff conform to every aspect of legislation and company policies will be second nature, as will ensuring that Whistl continues to consistently deliver the highest quality and most cost-effective offering for its customers across all products.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting the TM on planning of delivers, collections, forecasts and driver availability are in line with and exceed our customer expectations
Assist with full maintenance of fleet in line with all regulatory requirements, in conjunction with driver regulatory compliance and HS&E requirements
Provide assistance to the TM with analysis of Management Information and performance data to determine resource, identify trends and drive continuous improvement
Ensure effective team management when deputising for the TM by providing clear communication to the Transport team on operational changes and requirements, performance, absence management, conduct, identification of training and development, technical knowhow, coaching and succession planning
Attend meetings with other operational management to share performance related information, identify and remove operational barriers, discuss and agree solutions to any issues and agree a unified approach to best practice
Support the TM when required with forecast management and reporting on P&L for Bolton Transport, including spend against forecast with a view to exceeding targetsKeywords: Transport Support, Transport, Transportation, Operations, Commercial, Transport Supervisor, Administration, Driver, Escalated issues, Tachos, Driver records, Transport Office, Logistics, Initiative, Communication, MS Office skills, Excel, Resilient, Confident, Isotrak.

Essential Skills
You'll be a natural relationship builder and leader, combined with a significant transport management background. Strong communication skills will be essential, as will:
Experience of management of a team to achieve daily and weekly tasks through organisation, delegation and prioritisation
Previous experience working with Isotrak or equivalent telematics and tracking software
Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) National or equivalent Full driving licence as you may be required to travel (HGV Licence an advantage)
Significant knowledge and experience of all transport and driver regulations
A solution provider in a change culture working collaboratively with other departments to make change happen effectively
Excellent communication skills to influence internal and external stakeholders through clear, concise business cases, disseminate information appropriately, adaptation of your communication style in line with audience and situation and communicate effectively with urgency and direction
