FLEET MANAGER
BASED DUNFERMLINE, FIFE
SALARY / EXCELLENT AND NEGOTIABLE PLUS BENEFITS
Based in Fife, ESS’ client is amongst the UK’s largest producers of PVCu window and door products for the domestic replacement, commercial and new build sectors. They are a household name, and a manufacturer of high-end bespoke products. The business runs an extensive transport fleet of over 130 vehicles, encompassing, company cars, sprinter vans and two HGV lorries. They are now looking to recruit a Fleet Manager. Note, that post Covid restrictions, this role will be predominately based at their Dunfermline HQ. There will also be some travel in this role to sites if/when required.
Reporting into the senior management, the Fleet Manager plays a key role in the ongoing management, development, cost analysis versus return of investment and safe working practice adherence around driving standards, weighing/overloading and care of this multi-vacancy fleet. You will have a lot of involvement and responsibility commercially assessing new vehicle purchases / replacements and lease hire deals. At all times you will work closely with drivers and HSE to ensure that vehicles are driven and maintained to a high degree/safely and ensure their brand position is not affected by vehicle issues. Key responsibilities include:
Health and safety
Compliance with all statutes and company agreed standards.
Optimal operating efficiency.
Best value from all suppliers ranging from motor dealerships, leasing and rental companies, all service and product providers, software suppliers et cetera.
360° communications throughout the company to all personnel with any involvement in vehicles or transport.
Supplier appraisal and selection through negotiation of best value suppliers.
Holding suppliers and users to account throughout mutual dealings.
We are looking for a proven car/van/lorry Fleet Manager or Transport Manager. Ideally you will have excellent written and oral communication skills (vocational, college or degree education preferred) and some formal fleet and transport management industry qualifications; for example, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). You are experienced in managing a diverse fleet across make, model and size. Candidates are able to communicate effectively at all levels within the company, with statutory bodies, suppliers and customers. You are commercially aware to obtain best value from suppliers and users and you are able to use your previous experience to drive efficiency savings and improvements across a fleet.
