Duties:

Oversee and work with various head-office and site-based supervisors/operatives to plan, organise and implement the company’s logistical, Security and Waste Management services and in doing so, be responsible for the due-diligent delivery of these service’s in a professional manner, (whilst possibly working to very demanding deadlines).

The role also requires that the management of the project within the Logistics managers control is in accordance with the company’s standards manual, and as such be expected to ensure that this as a minimum standard is attained at all times.

As part of this site management position, the Logistics Manager will also understand and be able to produce reports (both internally and externally) of sufficient quality to represent / portray the company in a professional manner at all times.

To manage the implementation, monitoring and reporting of each stage of the project (from receipt of responsibility of the project to the project completion and subsequent final account meetings).

In doing so, work closely with a team that may comprise of all (or any) of the following:

Buyer

Site Operatives

Client

Sub-Contractors on site

Contracts Manager

Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Management

I.T. Manager

Training Manager

Traffic & Operations Manager

Quality Manager

Head of Security

Human Resources Manager

Health, Safety & Environmental Management

Planning and management of each projects resource requirements

Detailed knowledge of the individual scope to each project under the control of the Logistics Manager, and any ‘risk areas’ that form part of that scope. / Ensuring that a formal ‘handover’ meeting takes place with his Surveyor and Contracts manager – as a minimum, and all necessary tools / information required is gained to effectively control each project.

Ensure that his supervisors & operatives are familiar with the individual specifics of each project, sufficiently to effectively manage each project.

Ensure that effective communication is in place internally between all office and site-based staff to maintain an efficient and good working practice.

Ensure that the quality standards of the company are enforced to an acceptable level and fully understood and implemented by the site operatives.

Ensure that the health, safety & environmental standards of the company are enforced to an acceptable level and fully understood and implemented by the site team.

The Logistics Manager will report to the Contracts Manager.

Candidate Profile:

* Main contractor background

* Educated to HNC / HND or degree level in a construction based subject

* Will have a proven track record of managing contracts from inception through to completion.

* A current understanding and working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations

* A team player with excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills

* Proficient in Asta PowerProject (or Microsoft Project) and MS Office (Excel and Word)
