This role is a fantastic opportunity to join our site in Swadlincote as a Transport Manager, if you're currently looking for a step up in your career, from either a Transport Shift Manager or Transport Operations Manager, or you're currently a Transport Manager already, the we would love to hear from you!
You will be overseeing a great team working within our Clink-Link transport department.
Key Accountabilities of the role;
Responsible for the Swadlincote Transport
Work closely with the UK Contract Manager, the Fleet Manager and the Planning Manager
Carry out analysis on all aspects of the operation to identify areas of improvement
To manage the site budget, to ensure all costs are closely managed and where possible over achieve budget expectations (agency spend, accident damage, etc)
Manage store deliveries to 150+ New Look stores, collection of circa 23m units per annum from suppliers and the trunking network
Manage staffing levels and utilisation, recruitment of permanent and agency staff, allocation of duties/rotas, holidays, communications
Achieve levels of delivery service within budgetary and time constraints
Manage the fuel usage reduction project as the central location, inclusive of collating UK reports, working with the UK Contract Manager in ensuring targets are met to provide cost savings
Collate data for daily and weekly reports covering the UK (as the Transport Hub)
Liaise with the Planning Manager to ensure all routes are cost effective and efficient
Attend daily customer meetings (Monday – Friday, 08:30 and 17:00) with site managers
Provide overnight support for the UK network, to ensure performance KPI’s are maintained
Adhere to all Health & Safety Legislation and Clipper policy by ensuring all staff receive appropriate training and that all Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices are followed
Develop the transport plan for the fleet/drivers to cope with unexpected events or emergencies, including contingency planning and reporting
Follow company Human Resource procedures to ensure staff welfare as well as proactively manage the training and development
Communicate with internal and external customers whilst maximising opportunities to increase revenue via new business or development of the current operation
Assist the UK Contract Manager with customer projectsPerson Specification / Skills
CPC
Excellent time management and delegation skills
IOSH (Ideal)
Experience (5+ years) in managing a large Transport Operation (50+ staff)
Ability to work to strict deadlines, be able to prioritise and make decisions whilst under pressure to achieve tangible results
Excellent computer literacy i.e. Word, Excel, Isotrak A self-starter who is able to work with the minimum of supervision but who is also a strong team player with good interpersonal skills and completes tasks
