The Depot Transport Manager will be responsible for the Compliant and Efficient management of the Deport transport operation and the improvement of driver standards. The role will also be responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents and the management of vehicle PO logs, meeting agreed Transport / Fleet targets.
You will be accountable for:
Working with Planning, reviewing and optimising routes and delivering continuous improvement on route planning efficiency.
Be able to identify and execute cost saving opportunities at Depot level.
Understand, interpret and deliver the proportion of the depot network cost saving target.
Engaging with onsite teams to show an Improvement in driving styles across the driver team.
Work with the drivers and key depot personnel to measure and control the reduction of vehicle damage.
Manage, measure and control accident costs and investigations.
Being able to utilise and train others on the use of Lytx, Isotrak and driver assessor tools to influence tight financial control so they can influence daily in their depot.
Ensure all aspects of transport operation is delivered within cost targets.
Authorise entries on the PO log up to an agreed level and manage the accuracy and completeness of the vehicle PO log.
Working closely with the key Depot staff ensure that every worker is fully compliant with legislative requirements, e.g. Licence checks, Declarations, etc.
Ensuring all vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high standard and inspected / documented, a minimum of twice weekly.
To ensure that all accidents are correctly identifies and investigated fully with suitable outcomes to the network standards and with appropriate corrective and route cause mitigation.
Working with driver assessors to maintain regular assessments throughout the year and following accidents.
Ensure all site are following the network process of downloading driver and vehicle details.
The management and updating of all vehicle systems and their outputs, Lytx, Isotrack, Infringements, Missing Miles, etc.
Ensuring that operational procedures and general housekeeping is maintained to network standards e.g. yard walks, vehicle checks;
Ensure effective communication between depot team and fleet drivers to ensure smooth and efficient running of shifts.
Ensure on site teams Brief and debrief drivers to ensure that all instructions for their allocated runs are understood and actioned and show evidence of this including any required training and sign offs.
Holding team meetings to drive team spirit and best practice.
To be successful in this role you will require the following… Qualifications:
National CPC License holder.
PC literate in programmes such as Microsoft Office.
Desirable Qualification: International CPC licence holderKnowledge & Experience:
Experience in legislative compliance.
Experience in a Transport Operation
System knowledge of fleet systems, Isotrack, Tachomaster, etc.Technical & People Skills:
To be Financially astute in order to drive cost saving efficiencies and initiatives.
Be able to influence internal and external 3rd parties.
Some Technical knowledge of HGV, LGV.
Experience of managing teams of people.Impact & Influence
Experience of working in a traffic office operational capacity.
Ability to analyse and make recommendations from Management Information.
Experience of managing teams of people in a logistics environment.
Flexibility to work across any 24/7 operational shift and National location, as necessary.
