The role is responsible for management of the transport operation including all activities relating to HGV drivers, fleet administration and despatch administration. This will include full transport management across all sites with a full UK, Ireland and EU remit., ensuring an efficient and effective service to the batch plant, meeting their requirements by co-ordinating and delivering raw materials in a timely manner. You will ensure adequate skilled resource is available to deliver all required customer orders., meet the company's service targets, completing safety and quality audits, ensuring that the business provides the best service to all our customers and positively impacting on business results.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work very closely with the warehouse team in terms of providing an excellent overall service to the customer
Ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to by the team
Control staff schedules ensuring the provision of trained colleagues are available to the workload demands in line with budgetary targets
Responsible for all aspects relating to the management of the transport teams in Derrylin, Ballyconnell and Elton including; effective supervision, training and development, health & safety of the team
Ensure effective plans are provided to the warehouse teams to meet our customer requirements
Ensure that all fleet and equipment have current licences and are fully compliant with the required service and maintenance schedules and operate within the parameters of the company O licence
Ensure all despatched loads meet with the legal guidelines and RHA standards
Provide planned service & maintenance schedules for all HGV's trailers, shunt units, pool cars etc
Ensure internal/external non-conformance reporting is accurate
Ensure processes are in place to maintain invoicing and purchasing requirements
Effective management of colleague relations eg Resource planning, Holiday management, absence management etc.
Develop and maintain good long term working relationships with internal and external customers across multiple functions, acting as primary transport point contact for site.
Identify and implement continuous cost improvement projects to maintain competitiveness and achieved advantages with the customer
Establish and maintain KPI for fleet operations including (but not limited to) mpg, R&M spend, fleet replacement capex requirements
Ensure compliance with Company Health and Safety Regulations in areas of responsibilityRequirementsBusiness Knowledge
Good level of general education and ability to learn new concepts and principles.
Professional transport qualification is essential
Knowledge and previous experience in high pressure Logistics environments, ideally within the food drinks or packaging environments
Experience of working within a large multinational organisation
Good commercial acumen
Ability to demonstrate personal success in the achievement of challenging business targetsEssential Functional/ Technical Skills
