Grafton UK are recruiting exclusively for a well established FMCG company to source an experienced Warehouse and Logistics Manager to ensure the smooth running of the distribution, warehouse and inventory departments. This new role has been released due to the company's organic and successful growth.
This is a strategic role which will focus on process improvement, maximising productivity, efficiencies, mentoring and coaching staff within the warehouse and logistics function.
You will be:
Accountable for implementing and maintaining best practice across the Warehouse and Logistics function in order to manage the flow of products, to meet the requirements of our customer base
Lead the continuous improvement of high-quality reporting and KPI's to deliver actionable insight and support in strategic and tactical decision making
Drive functional performance through inspirational leadership: coach, mentor and develop all direct reports as well as all team members
Define, shape and evolve future business Warehouse and Logistics strategies
Work closely with freight forwarders and couriers to ensure the maintenance of high standards of service level
Accountability for all Warehousing and Logistics costs (P&L) and for analysis of all related spend v. budget whilst also providing recommendations for areas of developments such as service and cost optimisation
Manage a functional team and take ownership of their professional development through 1-2-1 reviews and personal development reviews, introducing personal development plans where required
Ensure that all operational areas are fully maintained to all regulatory and compliance standards at all times
A key stakeholder to company HSE compliance and proactively ensures that a low risk environment and culture is constantly adhered to Warehouse:
Ensure that warehouse space is maximised in an efficient manner including the ongoing management of inventory processes and all related activities
Through direct reports, ensure that all functional requirements and SLA's are fully completed and conformed to
Manage all functional personnel to ensure that they are working effectively
Constantly seek to improve warehouse performance and efficiency
Maintain a programme of continuous improvement i.e. 5S, 6-Sigma Logistics:
Total responsibility for all incoming and outgoing goods
Management of Import & Export (international distribution) ensuring that all documentary requirements are completed in line with both customer and regulatory requirements
Manage all service providers including 3PL's to ensure that company's requirements are fully delivered to cost and service expectations
Ensure all customer orders are shipped within the agreed time limits every day, every week, every month
Maintain a strong and positive relationship with all stakeholders, especially Sales, to ensure that customers are kept aware of their Order statusRequired skills/experience:
8-10 years' experience in an Operational Warehousing and Logistics Management role within a fast paced FMCG business
A degree level education in a related discipline
Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
Experience of e2e Inventory Management from Goods In through to Outbound and everything in-between including Quarantine, Slow Moving and Obsolete
Experience of expansion and the up-scaling of operations
Experience of international Import/Export is essential
The ability to lead in adversity with strong interpersonal skills and an excellent communicator, with authentic and natural skills for leading, managing and developing people
Experience of WMS and / or ERP software such as SAP, JDE, Other with strong IT skills (including Excel and data)
Proven Project Management and CAP-EX Project delivery experience
3PL service provision and compliance management experience
Excellent problem solving skills
Experience of managing change effectively
A strong business acumen for effectively managing cost base and a P&L
Excellent commercial and negotiation skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, to plan ahead, set goals and achieve objectives
To show initiative and always looking for ways to improve functional efficiencies and effectiveness
To demonstrate honesty and integrity alongside a positive can-do attitude
To be customer focused and driven to exceed excellence
