New bid to keep tyre business

HONDA is to launch a special tyre programme for major leasing companies designed to ensure business is retained within its dealership network and not lost to fast-fit companies. Last week Honda announced fixed price servicing for leasing companies after identifying significant variations on service costs within its dealerships.

Corporate sales manager Nicholas Phillips said: 'We will supply tyres to the leasing industry through our dealers at the same price as they could buy them from fast-fits.'

Honda wants its dealers to offer a consistent level of service nationwide so, in addition to a nationally set maximum fixed service labour rate of £40 which will be reviewed annually, the manufacturer has also set fixed charges for fluids and consumables such as exhausts, clutches and brake pads.
