FORD has denied speculation that it is planning a massive mid-summer price cut to bring its UK range into line with continental prices. Rumours have been rife that dealers are under pressure to clear their new and used stock in preparation for a major price realignment.

New car prices are currently under the scrutiny of the Competition Commission which is due to report to the Government on December 16, while this week the Consumers' Association launched a 'Great British rip-off' campaign to end high car prices in the UK.
