RETAIL Motor Industry Federation chief executive Alan Hines resigned last week, less than 10 weeks after taking up the post. Previously managing director of Securicor Vehicle Management, Hines' reasons for quitting are a mystery, although an RMI spokeswoman admitted his approach had been 'low-key' since taking office.

He will be replaced as chief executive by long-serving international affairs and legal director David Evans, who temporarily held the post prior to Hines' appointment.
