International medical company Baxter has chosen Leaseplan International as sole supplier for its 1,900-strong fleet in 14 European countries.

The company said it won the order after beating off stiff competition from four other suppliers during an 'extensive tender process'.

Baxter's project manager of purchasing and supplier management, Europe, Geert Van Acker said: 'LeasePlan International was able to demonstrate the best solutions for our needs backed up by a cohesive global co-ordination and support structure, centralised account management and the reassurance that we will receive the same high quality of service delivery in all our countries.'

LeasePlan International managing director Nick Salkeld said: 'We look forward to continuing our relationship with Baxter, and to move forward with joint initiatives which will deliver optimised fleet operating costs savings.'

The relationship between Baxter and LeasePlan at a local country level is not new and has in fact been built up over 17 years.

'Baxter's decision to globalise with LeasePlan International as its vehicle management supplier across Europe is as reflection of the strength of the relationship and the extensive range of services that the LeasePlan group can offer,' the leasing company added.

It said it won the order because of its 'ability to provide overall competitiveness and ongoing cost saving initiatives' and also due to its 'IT capabilities'.
