MANHEIM Auctions says demand for prestige cars going through its Wimbledon site signals positive signs of an economic recovery.

The company says that in recent weeks, sales of prestige models, worth more than £25,000, at the site have been strong with a wide range of models from Porsche to Jaguar achieving more than 20% above CAP figures.

Manheim's dealer director, Alan Cureton, said one of the main reasons for this success is its vendors giving good notice of when high value cars are going to be sent to auction, such as the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG.

'When vendors have high value vehicles to sell, if they let us know in advance we can start marketing these cars to buyers we know want this type of stock,' he said. 'Cars such as the Porsche 911 rarely come up for sale outside the Porsche dealer network so this gives our buyers a rare chance to bid on this type of car. The result is that we get more relevant buyers attending the auction and the vendor achieves a higher price for cars,' he added.

Like all cars, specification, colour, mileage and condition are vital to achieve the best prices. Prestige car auction prices (Reg/Yr and price)
