• PEUGEOT has announced new fleet appointments. Steve Harris becomes director of fleet and leasing. He succeeds John Taylor who has retired after 35 years. Harris was previously general manager of Peugeot Contract Hire. Chris Cheetham is promoted from district sales manager to fleet marketing manager. He joined Peugeot in 1995 after graduating from Coventry University.

  • KAREN Kingstone has joined the search and selection team at HSL Associates. Kingstone brings more than 15 years experience in the industry, primarily in the commercial vehicle sector and most recently with GE and Dawsons.

  • LEX Commercials, LDV main dealer for Derby, has appointed Ian Smith as franchise manager and Nigel Briggs joins the company as sales executive. Smith joined in October 2002 as senior sales specialist and his new responsibilities include development of new and used LCVs across the area. Briggs was previously with Priory Motor Group in Nottingham, where he was assistant service manager.

  • ASHLEY Holmes joins industry finance body, The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA), as head of legal affairs and policy development. He was previously head of the Consumers' Association legal department.

  • BURNT Tree Group has announced the appointment of Chris Sharp as sales and operations director. He takes responsibility for spearheading the vehicle rental company's business expansion. Sharp previously held senior positions with Ryder Plc.

  • STEVE Benson and Andy Powazynski are to manage a major training contract for Driver Hire. Together with Jobcentre Plus and the European Social Fund Benson Powazynski will liaise across the Yorkshire and Humberside region to increase awareness of the National Driving to Success training scheme.

  • DIXON Motors has appointed Giles Castleton as brand manager for Nissan to work alongside Mark Thompson. Both Castleton and Thompson take responsibility for separate dealerships in the north of the country and both report to Steve Eley on the company's operations board.

  • JOHN Lennox has been appointed to the Roadsafe board of directors, the British road safety partnership of leading companies in the motor and transport industries. Lennox is the first head of transport for BSI and his aims include BSI's vision to be the leading voice for safety and standards in the sector.

  • JOHN Hogan is the new managing director of DHL UK. The appointment follows the company's acquisition of the remainder of Securicor Omega Holdings by parent company Deutsch Post World Net.
