FLEETS using rental vehicles can rest assured that their drivers will be arriving on time as more companies offer optional satellite navigation systems.

Portable units are now being provided by several rental firms for less than £10 a day.

Europcar has recently updated the systems it supplies in vehicles and now offers the Navman iCN 510 for £7 a day.

Each device is pre-loaded with UK regional maps offering turn-by-turn voice instructions and a 3D map view.

Michael McInerney, fleet director at Europcar, said: ‘We are always looking for new ways of providing our customers with a hassle-free service.

‘By offering our customers the chance to hire the latest in satellite navigation systems, we can assure that they will have an easier journey.’

National Car Rental offers satellite navigation units at airport locations and Guy Salmon also announced plans earlier this year to fit its prestige rental fleet with the satellite navigation system Smartnav.

Other groups offering satellite navigation include Avis at all locations and Thrifty in selected vehicles.
