NEW legislation to protect workers from age discrimination means fleet managers approaching retirement now have more rights.

Following the legislation employers now have to give at least six months notice of a reitrement date and compulsory retirement before 65 is now unlawful.

Studies by jobsite Monster show 46% of employees believe their organisations discriminate against older workers when recruiting staff.

Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair Darling said: ‘In just 15 years, the over 50s will make up more than a third of the workforce. Ignoring a whole generation makes no sense.
