How many vehicles are you responsible for and how long have you been in fleet?
About 525 liveried vehicles and 350 company cars. I have been managing fleets since 1978.
What’s the most interesting vehicle on your fleet?
A lot of interest is shown in the vehicles we call ‘bloodmobiles’. These are self-contained mobile blood donation vehicles that can travel to places of work and other sites.
What ups and downs does working for NHSBT have?
It is satisfying to know that the transport department helps to save patients’ lives. This upside is also the downside, as we must be aware that we are always on public view.
What would make your job easier?
Black box technology would be an asset. It would make it much easier to complete accident investigations or driving infringement claims.
How do you wind down from work?
I am renovating a 400-year-old cottage. My wife and I also enjoy eating out and going for long walks with our dog.
