PAUL Taylor, fleet manager, Morgan Est

How did you get into fleet?
I started out as a mechanic, then progressed to workshop management, then to a fleet engineer and I have been a fleet manager responsible for 900 vehicles for the past two years.

What is the best part about the job?
Being around vehicles. I enjoy ordering, purchasing and driving them. I would say the best vehicle on our fleet at the moment has to be the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

And the worst?
Our biggest problem is ensuring the drivers look after their vehicles. At the moment, we have issues with general interior wear and tear. I am currently designing a driver agreement to tackle this problem.

If you were transport minister, what would you change?
It would have to be tax on vehicles, road fuel, road tax and congestion charging, which all need an overhaul.

What is your greatest achievement?
In my previous role, I was instrumental in introducing a manual with set policies. This was implemented nationwide and standardised our procedures.
