FLEET Support Group’s Zoe Huxtable was the star of the second heat of the 2006 Kwik-Fit Fleet National Karting Challenge.

Racing in the South West heat at The Raceway, Bristol, last week, Zoe, FSG’s final driver, fought off a late challenge in the two-hour endurance race from Kevin Phillips, of Northcliffe Fleet Services, to see her company through to the grand final on July 2.

Zoe and colleagues Simon Hackett, Tim Groom and Mike Braney completed 194 laps of the circuit and took the chequered flag just 14 seconds ahead of Northcliffe’s quartet, who also completed 194 laps. Third spot went to ALD Automotive, while Pearce Bros, who finished fourth, chalked up the fastest lap of the night –32.72 seconds.

Also competing in the second heat of the 2006 Challenge were teams from Motability, Arval, Scott Hire, Unipart and Landsown Leasing.

Today, 10 teams are due to battle it out in the West Midlands qualifying heat. Nine nationwide heats are being held, with a total of 18 teams set to qualify for the Milton Keynes grand final. Already through from heat one are Alphabet (GB), Hitachi Capital Fleet, LeasePlan (UK) and VELO.
