PORSCHE will launch a more affordable version of its Cayman S coupe this summer.

Previously only available in S trim, the new model will be badged simply Cayman. The Boxster-derived two-seater uses a 2.7-litre boxer six-cylinder engine providing 245bhp, giving a top speed of 160mph and 0-62mph acceleration in 6.1 seconds.

Priced at £36,220, the Cayman is nearly £8,000 cheaper than the 295bhp Cayman S and will go on sale on July 29.

Three versions will be available – a standard model with a five-speed manual gearbox, an optional six-speed manual which comes in conjunction with Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system, and a five-speed Tiptronic S semi-automatic version.
