USER-choosers can officially start getting excited now: these spyshots show that BMW is planning to expand its 1-series range over the next year with coupe and convertible models.
Caught during Scandinavian cold-weather testing are the E82 coupe and E88 soft-top (main picture). The coupe will keep familiar series styling at the front, but its rear end will be a coupe/saloon mix, creating a usefully large boot.
Despite rumours that it was to go metal, BMW’s smallest convertible sticks with a classic fabric roof, electrically operated. A mix of four and six-cylinder engines will be offered, stretching from 1.6 to 3.0-litre in petrol and diesel.
