SUBARU used the New York Auto Show last week to take the wraps off two new models – an all-new Impreza and a facelifted Tribeca.

For the first time in its history, the Impreza will be offered as a five-door hatchback – the four-door saloon version will only be available for the US market.

But Subaru is keeping to tradition by offering the Impreza with four-wheel drive and ‘boxer’ flat-six engines.

Elsewhere, the firm’s ungainly-looking Tribeca SUV has also come in for attention.

The odd-looking front end has been toned down with more conventional headlights and grille, while inside the firm claims improved comfort and functionality.

Under the bonnet is a 3.6-litre flat-six engine to replace the current 3.0-litre unit.

UK sales of both models will begin next year.
