Volkswagen’s Phaeton luxury saloon range has been revised with an upgraded interior, styling tweaks and a new, cheaper 3.0 TDI diesel model.

Outside is a reprofiled bonnet and light clusters, while inside is a redesigned centre console and new navigation system. The 3.0 TDI engine gains 8bhp – up to 233 – and also complies with 2009’s Euro V emission regulations by acheiving an 80% reduction in particulate emissions. Prices start at £37,995 – down from £42,000 – and deliveries begin in September.
