Thrifty Car & Van Rental has announced that after a vote by employees the company has chosen Help for Heroes and Hospiscare as its 2011 national and local charity partners.

Hoping to raise a significant amount of money for both charities, Thrifty will be organising a range of sponsored activities throughout the year and donating £1 for every booking made on www.thrifty.co.uk to Thrifty’s charity fund which will then be split among it’s charity partners.

Linda Paul, director of central services for Thrifty Car & Van Rental, comments: “To be fundraising for two such worthy causes means a great deal to everyone at Thrifty. We hope to raise a significant amount of money this year which will make a huge difference to everyone involved with and benefitting from Hospiscare and Help for Heroes.”

Hospiscare spokeswoman Teresa Driscoll said: “We are so thrilled to receive this support from Thrifty. Every year we need to raise more than four million pounds to keep our vital services going. Sponsorship and fundraising from the business community plays a major part in that effort, so this help from Thrifty will make a real difference to the lives of patients and their families. As well as being rewarding, I am sure the partnership will be enormous fun too.”

Help for Heroes CEO and co-founder Bryn Parry, says: “We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve for their country, knowing that they may risk it all, is a hero. At Help for Heroes we rely heavily on our supporters to do their bit and show these extraordinary young men and women that they are cared for by us. Being named Thrifty’s charity partner for 2011 will help massively towards raising much needed funds and we are truly grateful for the help and support which the business has pledged.”
