Kia has been nominated for the “Green Contribution to London” Award at the Annual London Lifestyle Awards. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 17th October at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham.

Kia Motors have been nominated because of work with local school children using the Kia Walking Bus Scheme. The Walking Bus promotes walking to school for children between the ages of 4 and 10, giving them a healthier lifestyles along with other benefits. It has been proven that regular walking has exercise benefits of improving brain memory and concentration so children will be alert when they start their day. Daily walking also helps towards a good night’s sleep. The children travel in hi-visibility jackets with fully trained adults to keep them safe and visible to motorists on their journey as well as teaching them about road safety and to be more aware of their local area. All in all, the Kia Walking Bus encourages a healthier lifestyle and prioritises road safety from a young age.

The Green Contribution category has been whittled down to just 6 competitors with 4,127 businesses originally in the running for all 18 awards.

Jason Gale creator of the London Lifestyle Awards said of the line-up of London stars, “Last year’s event was such a memorable night, with so many deserving people and businesses picking up awards. This year we have had to release a larger shortlist representing such amazing business and talented individuals who make London the greatest city in the world. The world’s eyes were on the capital this year with the 2012 Olympics and iconic Jubilee celebrations, and once again London has made us proud.”
