Efforts to bring in funds for a new enterprise in Lichfield have been boosted by TR Fleet.

TR Fleet is sponsoring a 150-mile coast-to-coast charity cycle ride by a team of ten new converts to cycling who are raising money to build a community cafe at Saxon Hill Community School which educates children and young people with physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

The Berkswell company has given £500 to Wendy's Wheelers to pay for team T-shirts for their three-day Whitehaven to Sunderland challenge from September 14-16, with the surplus going direct to the appeal.

The special school is aiming to build a community cafe that will enable the school to integrate further with the local community. It will be run on a not-for-profit basis by the pupils themselves to help give them experience of the world of business.

Dave Richards, a member of Wendy's Wheelers, said: “TR Fleet's great support will enable us to carry the name of Saxon Hill Community School on our journey as we attempt to raise as much as possible for a great cause. The trip will be a huge challenge as we are all inexperienced cyclists.”

Julie Boyd, TR Fleet managing director, said: “As a major fleet management company, we are delighted to sponsor a cycle team that is helping to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people across the region.”
