Chevin is adding a new driver licence checking tool to its FleetWave fleet management software to help organisations fulfil their duty of care responsibilities.

The tool allows a series of rules and profiles to be set up that are suitable for each fleet.

For example, the user could specify that all fleet drivers are checked for points with the DVLA once a year but that high mileage of more than 50,000 miles are looked at every six months.

Driving licence checks are bought by the fleet on a pay on use basis, making the tool as cost-effective as possible.

Ashley Sowerby (pictured), managing director of Chevin, said: "Regularly checking driving licences has become a fundamental part of fleet duty of care in recent years. The driving licence checking tool allows the whole process to be largely automated in an intelligent and effective manner.

"We are expecting adoption rates among fleets using FleetWave to be very high."
