Alphabet has scooped the ‘Car Scheme Provider of the Year’ award at the annual Workplace Savings & Benefits Awards in London thanks to its corporate car sharing scheme AlphaCity.

Alphabet won the accolade as a result of the 40% CO2 emission and fuel cost savings that AlphaCity has delivered for the Rugby Football Union (RFU), the national governing body for grassroots and elite rugby in England.

Multiple drivers from the RFU have access to the AlphaCity cars through an electronic card system. The keyless vehicles are available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by any of the registered card holders.

RFU employees check availability online, book the vehicle they require and are ready to drive away.

Alphabet says AlphaCity enables fleet managers to save both time and money through reduced administration, improved reporting, greater transparency of vehicle usage as well as making billing easier to manage.

Nigel Trotman, strategic fleet consultant at Alphabet, said: “We’re delighted that the success of our AlphaCity scheme has been recognised by Workplace Savings and Benefits.

“New approaches to business travel are the key to future corporate sustainability and business mobility; AlphaCity presents businesses with an opportunity to make a change for the better by cutting both costs and carbon emissions, as well as making things easier and more transparent for both fleet managers and drivers.”
