Hiyacar has launched a 12-month car club trial in Oxfordshire with a fleet of eight vehicles.

The service utilises Hiyacar’s bespoke car sharing insurance and QuickStart keyless car-access technology, meaning vehicles can be hired without in-person key handover.

Oxfordshire drivers can access the vehicles through the Hiyacar platform, with rates starting at £30 per day.

The car club cars will be spread across Oxford, and can be found on: Cripley Road, Cranham Street, Western Road, Aston Street, Walton Well Road, Leckford Road, Rymers Lane and Belvedere Road.

Oxfordshire council has facilitated a number of Closed Loop car sharing networks recently, as well as having launched a car club in nearby Thame and Haddenham.

CEO and co-founder of Hiyacar, Graeme Risby, said: “Hiyacar is incredibly excited to be launching this car club in Oxfordshire, and to be bringing affordable sustainable transport options to Oxfordshire drivers.”

Councillor Duncan Enright, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for Travel and Development Strategy, added: “Car clubs can play an important role in reducing overall car ownership while still offering residents the convenience of being able to make a journey when they need to. We are pleased to be able to support these schemes in Oxfordshire and believe they will prove popular with residents as an extra option alongside active travel and public transport.”
