Nissan is reporting a strong order bank from fleets for the all-new electric Nissan Ariya

The electric-only model, which is available with a choice of power outputs and battery sizes, giving a range of up to 310 miles, went on sale this month.

Fleet director at Nissan, Csaba Vincze, told Fleet News at Company Car in Action (CCIA): “We have received high levels of interest in the pre-launch phase and already have a strong order bank ahead of the start of sales in July with a number of high-profile corporate customers having placed orders.”

The average lead time from new order to delivery is currently around six months.

Vincze says that both the Ariya and the Townstar - a Townstar compact van, which will replace the NV250 and e-NV200 in the manufacturer’s line-up - are the “key fleet models” for Nissan this year.

The Townstar, which shares a platform with the new Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan, will be offered with a petrol engine or as fully electric.

Featuring up to 4.3 cubic metres of cargo space, it can transport two Euro pallets and up to 800Kg of cargo, while the powertrains allow the vehicle to offer a 1,500Kg towing capacity.

Vincze said: “Townstar EV has received significant levels of interest from a variety of fleet customers ranging from SMEs to FN200 corporates.

“A large proportion of these customers purchased e-NV200 so are already aware of Nissan’s leadership in electric vans.

“The Townstar EV will build on our electric credentials. We are currently awaiting confirmation of allocations.”

However, in terms of lead times for the Townstar, he added: “We expect to start taking Townstar orders in July with expect lead times to be around six months from new order to delivery.”
