Venson Automotive Solutions urges businesses to back ‘Clean Air Day’ to help tackle air pollution.

In the run-up to Clean Air Day on June 21, Venson Automotive has asked businesses to get behind this year’s campaign by asking employees to pledge to  walk, cycle or car-share to work.

Venson Automotive Solutions’ business development director Danielle Tilley (pictured) said: “Experts expect the UK Government to focus on legislation and regulation to reduce the use of diesel vehicles and boost the shift to cleaner vehicles.

"Whilst the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles is currently proposed for 2040, businesses shouldn’t rest on their laurels, as this date could be brought forward, indeed many specialists predict this will happen”

The number of cars eligible for the Plug-In Car Grant increased by more than 51% year-on-year in May and new car registrations of hybrids and plug-ins is up more than a third to take a record 5.8% share of the market.

Venson believes a continued focus on clean air initiatives for UK cities by businesses and local government has played a key role in boosting take up.

Tilley said: “Venson is committed to promoting greener fleets and helping businesses make the shift to electric and hybrid vehicles.

"By encouraging employees to participate in Clean Air Day businesses will be helping to create greater awareness of the choices available to people which we believe will help to drive change.”
