Europcar Mobility Group participated in Watford Jobs Fair where the company showcased EV mobility solutions, ahead of European Mobility Week.

This is the second year the Watford-based UK subsidiary of Europcar Mobility Group attended the Jobs Fair.

A day-long event on September 13, the Fair linked local companies with vacancies to those looking for a new job.

This year, Europcar Mobility Group gave attendees the chance to try out electric vehicles first-hand, with the support of Watford Borough Council at the Langley Banqueting and Conference Street in Watford.

Ubeeqo, a Europcar Mobility Group company, operates E-Car, a low emission car club, which offered free membership and a £10 credit and trials of the E-Car service.

Ahead of European Mobility Week (September 16-22), Europcar Mobility Group’s attendance at the Watford Job Fair also enabled the company to demonstrate the role it can play in providing sustainable transport solutions for businesses of all sizes.

Europcar Mobility Group in the UK’s managing director Gary Smith said: “At the Watford Jobs Fair, we saw many people trial the E-Car service to understand the benefits for themselves and to familiarise themselves with EV technology.

“With our UK headquarters situated in Watford, we are proud to support Richard Harrington MP’s longstanding commitment to promote job recruitment within the local community and green mobility solutions.

"We hope this encourages other local businesses and residents to consider a green alternative to private car ownership in the future.”

Richard Harrington MP, Minister for Business and Industry said: “Our Road to Zero strategy, published in July this year, sets out a clear pathway and gives certainty and clarity to both industry and motorist.

"I am therefore very pleased to support Europcar Mobility Group’s initiative to promote its E-Car electric vehicle car club in Watford and across the country.

“As a local company, I know Europcar has a strong commitment to drive electric vehicle take up by enabling consumers to experience EV technology through its E-car club and car rental.

"Electric vehicles are our future and Europcar Mobility Group has an important role to play increasing consumer awareness of the benefits of a range of sustainable mobility solutions which reduce congestion and emissions and improve our local air quality.”

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We are proud to support Europcar and their E-Car service. We have electric vehicles regularly used by our staff, which cuts down the emissions created by petrol and diesel cars.

"A number of our council owned car parks contain electric charging points and I am keen for more Watford residents to use them.”
