Kia has announced pricing and specifications for its new Sportage SUV, which goes on sale on December 15.

Customer deliveries will start in Q1 next year for the model, which replaces the best-selling model in the manufacturer’s current range. It will also be available in six equipment grades.

It will be available with petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, hybrid powertrains from launch, with plug-in hybrid variants joining the line-up towards the end of Q1 2022.

Kia says boot space, head- and leg-room are all substantially increased compared to the current generation car, with best-in-class legroom for rear seat passengers.

The line-up includes a hybrid for the first time, with a 1.6-litre T-GDi petrol engine, developing 229PS, with the PHEV offering 265PS.

A selection of 1.6-litre internal combustion engines complete the range, with both petrol and diesel power on offer.

Available with and without Kia’s 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the Sportage will be available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission.

A six-speed automatic transmission is offered on all HEV and PHEV variants.

The UK line-up begins with the 2 model, priced from £26,745. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, automatic headlight control and forward collision avoidance with city, pedestrian, cyclist and junction covering.

Other trim levels are GT-Line, 3, 4 and the flagship GT-Line S edition, which is priced from £38,445.

The range-topper includes GT-Line styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch screens, artificial leather and suede upholstery, power adjustable driver and front passenger seat, power tailgate, panorama sunroof, 306-degree around view monitor, remote smart parking assist, smart entry system with engine start/stop button and blind spot view monitor.
