Skoda has given the Octavia a mid-life facelift, boosting the model's performance and technology.

The refreshed Octavia will go on sale in the next few months. It as been given a visual overhaul, with new bumpers and redesigned lights. 

On the inside, there's a new, larger infotainment screen. Top-spec models will get a 13-inch display. The system also integrates ChatGPT into the car's existing voice control system.

Improvements over the outgoing model include updated LED headlights, enhanced driver assistance systems and revisions to the keyless entry to include walkaway locking.

Skoda has reduced the powertrain line-up for the new model. Entry-level versions are now powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, rather than a 1.0-litre unit.

The 1.5-litre engine is available with power outputs of 116PS and 150PS.Versions equipped with an automatic gearbox also have mild-hybrid technology.

A more powerful 2.0-litre petrol engine is available with 204PS, alongside a range-topping 265PS VRS version.

Two diesel engines complete the line-up, with 116PS or 150PS.

Skoda stopped taking orders for its popular plug-in hybrid engine in late 2022. The brand has not detailed any plug-in powertrains for the new Octavia.

The revised Octavia introduces new Simply Clever features. An optional automatic retractable luggage compartment cover can be fitted to the estate to make access to the cargo area easier.

There's a dedicated storage box to hold rear passengers’ bags, cups and bottles, while the multifunction pocket in the luggage compartment now has two variable hooks.

The optional tablet holder on the back of the front seats is now also available for the sports seats and the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap and the optional umbrella in the front door are now made from sustainable materials.

UK pricing and specifications are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The updated Octavia will join the recently refreshed Scala and Kamiq, along with Skoda's all-new Kodiaq and Superb models, as part of it's overhauled line-up for 2024.
