The vast majority of fleet operators have yet to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations, according to a new survey from transport-tech firm, Tranzaura.
However, more than a third (36%) of respondents said that they are considering implementing the technology, while more than a quarter (27%) are currently experimenting or piloting with AI solutions.
When asked why they would adopt AI, 88% of respondents said they would primarily be motivated by the improvements that it could offer to their operational efficiency, such as improved vehicle maintenance.
Three-quarters (75%) said sustainability and fuel efficiency were also key motivating factors.
Shane Mann, Tranzaura's CEO, said: “This snapshot survey shows that fleet managers are motivated to adopt AI into their operations to improve their efficiency, but there is a clear lack of action within the industry to actually adopt AI-powered tools.”
“The speed at which technology for fleet management is progressing cannot be underestimated. It was not too long ago that the industry moved away from manual data consolidation to web-based applications. Now, with the rollout of AI, we have reached another turning point in the industry - one which promises to make fleets more efficient and connected than ever before.
“It is imperative, therefore, that fleet managers take the step to adopting the innovative solutions that AI delivers across the industry, allowing them to make use of deeper insights to help make a positive impact on their operations and on the environment.”
