Fleet telematics and technology solution-provider, Microlise, has launched Planning and Optimisation, a tool that promises faster and more efficient route planning.

The new tool allows planners to generate an optimised plan and include “last-minute consignments that can be added, optimised and applied to existing routes”.

A visualisation feature allows fleet logistics planners to monitor the progress of the algorithm and see “when a plan is fully optimised against run-time KPIs”.

Stephen Watson, Microlise director of product, said: “There are a number of optimisation solutions on the market, but for the first time we can offer new and existing customers a fast, flexible and modern interface that integrates fully with our telematics, journey management and driver performance solutions, to deliver a lower cost of completion and efficiency savings.

“Planning and Optimisation harnesses cutting-edge technology and a modern web-based platform. It offers an intuitive and simple user interface that allows planners to make manual adjustments prior to publishing a plan. It provides complete visibility of discrete elements such as lorries and drivers, assigned and unassigned orders, planned distance, duty time and other factors that improve fleet visibility and asset performance. The flexible algorithm can also be adjusted to address common issues around delays, bottlenecks and last minute orders.”

Microlise is a leading provider of HGV telematics, with a current installed base of over 500,000 global assets. Customers include MAN Truck & Bus and JCB.
