Volvo has supplied Staffordshire Doctors Urgent Care (SDUC), part of Vocare Group, with eight new Volvo V60s to help local GPs reach patients' homes out of hours throughout Staffordshire.

Having been contracted to supply healthcare services for the NHS, SDUC needed to source vehicles from a manufacturer that universally stood for quality, safety and reliability. In choosing the Volvo V60, the spacious cabin and large loading area were deemed essential for SDUC doctors who will transport medical equipment to and from patients' homes predominantly across the ST4 postcode area.

The V60 was also selected by SDUC due to the high specification for comparatively low cost as well as for the quick delivery turnaround time.

Each V60 has been given a striking SDUC livery including branding for the new NHS 111 non-emergency number. In addition, sirens and a 1,000mm green LED light bar have been fitted along with a bespoke communication/messaging and navigation system.

Forecasted mileage for each vehicle is approximately 25,000 miles per year throughout the next three years, with servicing to be carried out by local Volvo dealer Holdcroft Stoke.

John Harrison, chief executive of Vocare Group comments: "Since we took recent delivery of these eight Volvo V60s the feedback from the staff and management has been very positive. Our patients expect a swift and reliable service out of hours and the V60 helps us provide just that. The support from Volvo has been excellent throughout this order and we look forward to continuing the working relationship."

Selwyn Cooper, national corporate operations manager of Volvo Car UK comments:  "SDUC do a fantastic and much needed job in their local community and we are pleased to have provided a fleet of eight V60s to enable them to carry on. The V60 is the ideal solution for SDUC to provide a reliable service to patients needing homecare through Staffordshire."
