Rental supplier Green Motion has announced the roll-out of its new customer and staff safety procedures for the collection of a rental vehicle during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new procedures include the installation of protective screens, intensive location and vehicle cleaning and sanitisation programmes, social distancing messaging and staff adopting the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The first UK locations in the UK to pilot the process were Green Motion Leicester City and Green Motion Edinburgh Airport.

Richard Lowden, founder of CEO of Green Motion, said: “During the covid-19 crisis, designated as an essential service here in the United Kingdom, Green Motion's UK network has remained open providing vehicles to healthcare, key workers and charities.

"As lockdowns are starting to ease around the world we are beginning to see the early signs of customers returning and choosing car rental as their chosen alternative to public transport and taxis.

“Our introduction and roll out of our new safety procedures are designed to give our customers and staff real protection and peace of mind."

Green Motion aims to have the new protocol operational in all UK locations by the first week of May.

Lowden said Green Motion has also seen a “tremendous surge” in demand for its contactless rental solution Drive & Go.
