Away from the tracks, Company Car in Action (CCIA) is offering visitors free-to-attend seminar sessions over the two days covering grey fleet management and transitioning to electric vehicles.

Expert speakers offering real-world case studies and best practice solutions will present during the event and be on hand to answer your questions.

CCIA is the UK’s largest fleet ride and drive event. It takes place at UTAC Millbrook proving Ground, in Bedfordshire, on June 15-16.

Grey fleet management

Wednesday 15th June: 10.00am – 10.45am
Thursday 16th June: 11.30am – 12.15pm

Managing a grey fleet can be a real challenge for fleets as an increasing number of employees use their own vehicles for work purposes because of the growth of affinity schemes and cash allowances.

Peter Eggeman, programme manager – Fleet Support at Energy Saving Trust, will speak on Wednesday and provide advice and guidance on grey fleet decarbonisation, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, by reducing the size and cost of a grey fleet.

Alison Moriarty, fleet risk director at DRiiVE Consulting, will present on Thursday. She will offer advice on how to manage your grey fleet efficiently and safely, including pitfalls to watch out for, legal obligations for anyone driving their own car for work purposes, differences between managing ad hoc very occasional grey fleet and cash takers who pile on the miles and how to get control/data from HR.

Electric vehicles

Wednesday 15th June: 11.30am – 12.15pm
Thursday 16th June: 10.00am – 10.45am

With the Government’s 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars looming, an increasing number of companies are starting on the journey to a zero-emission fleet.

The Electric Vehicle sessions, sponsored by Rightcharge, will offer best practice tips to help fleet operators get the most out of an electrification strategy, from using total cost of ownership to calculate costs, steps to take to implement a workplace charging infrastructure, different charging scenarios for home and public networks, pitfalls to consider and hurdles to overcome along the way.

Charlie Cook, CEO of Rightcharge , will outline the key considerations for fleet operations when forming their workplace charging strategy. He will also consider the options for home charging, including reimbursement and provide advice about how public charging should fit into a fleet’s travel policy.

He will be joined by Kevin Booker, IT Systems and fleet manager at Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. Brooker will share his journey to an electric fleet, offering guidance and best practice tips; from using total cost of ownership to calculate costs, steps to take to implement a workplace charging infrastructure, charging scenarios for home and public networks, pitfalls to consider and hurdles to overcome along the way.

On Thursday June 15, Andy Eastlake, chief executive officer of Zemo Partnership, will provide delegates with best practice tips to help them on their electrification journey, including the latest technology, how it’s developing, the importance of total cost of ownership to calculate costs, considerations when implementing a workplace charging infrastructure and advice on home and public networks (including reimbursement and solutions for those without home charging options).

EV adoption – a personal perspective

Wednesday 15th June: 2.30pm – 3.15pm

Thursday 16th June: 2.30pm – 3.15pm

This session, from the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), will help fleet managers to set out on their own journeys to electrification and to provide advice to their drivers.

James Pestell, AFP director and national sales manager at IFC Group, will present alongside Stewart Lightbody, vice chairman of AFP and Fleet Innovation & EV Manager at Matrix iQ: DRiiVE. Both will provide insight into what they have learnt since they started on their own electric journeys around five years ago, including tips and helpful insight from their last few years of being EV drivers.

From journey planning, charging patterns, understanding energy and addressing the reliability of public charging infrastructure to installing your own home charger and charge point providers you can trust, this session will cover it all.
