Omoda has confirmed its new electric SUV, the Omoda 5, will have a range of 280 miles.

The Chinese brand plans to start selling cars in the UK early next year. The Omoda 5 will be its debut model, offered with petrol and electric powertrains. Two more Omoda cars will launch by 2025.

The Omoda 5 EV is equipped with a 61kWh battery and 204PS motor that drives the front wheels.

The battery can be charged from 0-80% in 30 minutes, using a 110kW rapid charger.

Customers will have a choice of four trim levels. Omoda says each are "generously" equipped with "segment-leading" standard equipment and a suite of advanced driver assistance and safety systems.

There will be a wide range of customisation is available to allow for individual expression.

Pricing for the Omoda 5 EV has not been confirmed, yet, but petrol versions of the car will start from £24,000.
