Manufacturer’s service and cambelt interval information from Autodata, which allows fleets to check when the next service is due on cars and vans, is being added at no extra charge to FleetCheck’s fleet management software.

The data covers 142 manufacturers and 34,000 models and will deliver a wide variety of benefits for fleets, explained Peter Golding (pictured), managing director at FleetCheck.

He said: “Some modern fleet cars and vans work on variable service intervals and will notify you when servicing is required. However, many don’t, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find accurate service interval information for those vehicles.

“Sometimes, manufacturers even change the length of service intervals on the same models from model year to model year in response to technical changes or real-world operational experience, so it is something of a minefield.

“However, fleets need to get service intervals right for a whole range of reasons. The most important of these is duty of care, ensuring that you are meeting manufacturer service and maintenance standards.

“But, maintenance-by-the-book is also crucial to ensure the validity of your manufacturer warranty, to meet the SMR standards set by your leasing company and even to ensure that you are maintaining fleet residuals.”

The Autodata service interval data will be accessible to the 700 businesses that are using FleetCheck’s fleet management software.

Golding added: “At a glance or through alerts, fleets will be able to see when the next service is due for each vehicle alongside other crucial service and maintenance compliance information such as the road tax due date.”
